Learn More about the Misterio known as Papa Chango, in las 21 Divisiones and Sanse, in this short video. Enjoy
St. Barbara is a very well known and popular Saint within the Afro Carribean traditions. She can be seen all over the islands doing her powerful and magical work.
The feast day of St. Barbara is December 4th.
In Haitian Vodou, St. Barbara is seen as Mambo Lemiye. The mother of the Nago Nation, or Nasyon Nago. Here we find St. Barbara as the mother of the Ogous, the warriors. And as a mother of warriors, you have to be a pretty strong woman yourself! In Vodou, Mambo Lemiye walks on the shore. She is a Mystery that works with both water and fire and is able to work in the Sea.
She is called upon for when seeking protection against fire, sickness and when one is struggling with enemies. She can neutralize those that come to harm you. We give her a cup and a sword so that she can work.
In the 21 Divisiones, or Las 21 Divisiones, St. Barbara serves to represent the Mystery or Misterio known as Chango. As a warrior, we know that with Chango’s help we can overcome that which seems impossible. Chango is the ruler over lightening and thunder and can protect us from these as well. We can go to Chango when we are facing very strong opposition and can be sure that he will help us in our mission.
In Sanse, St. Barbara encompases a number of different Misterios and Sanses.
In my lineage we recognize St. Barbara as a number of different Misterios that work within that image. We often say that St. Barbara spends six months as a male and six months as a female. That is why we also say that St. Barbara protects those that are transgendered or cross dress.
We recognize that St. Barbara as a male is Chango. And Chango is a spirit of protection, of magick and of wealth. He can assist us in any battle as he is a very strong warrior. For this purpose, we use the image of St. Barbara on a horse as seen above. We will also frequently use the image of Chango Macho to represent this path or punto of St. Barbara.
As a spirit of luck, wealth and prosperity, we often petition Chango Macho for help in business, employment and gambling luck. A special punto of Chango Macho is prepared by Sancistas in a small wooden box to bring in luck and prosperity.
In her female form, we recognize her as Ezili Shango Pye. She is a powerful warrior as usual, but is also able to assist us in attaining love and helping us with issues within our relationships. She is called upon to bring in passion when a relationship is fizzling or dying out.
Above, you will see the image that we use to represent Ezili Shango Pye. In dreams, she often appear as an Indian woman, who has large round brown eyes, olive skin and wears a long white dress. She wears a red mantle over this dress and often a crown.
In all of her aspects, she is served with the colors red and white. She is fond of red apples, bananas, mangos and Papaya. She also loves red flowers.
Que Viva Chango Senores!
St Jude is a powerful ally and a powerful Misterio. He is known for his many abilities and many forms and is a popular Misterio within Sanse and Las 21 Divisiones. He is known as the patron of desparate causes. He is able to assist in even the worst looking of cases and scenarios. He is also known as a powerful dominator and can help those who are devoted to him dominate and win in any situation. Many come to St. Jude when they also need to be rid of some negative energy, spirit or ghost.
Being as popular as he is, he is known in various forms or can be used to represent many different Misterios. Thus he has many paths, in which he is worked with. St. Jude is popular in many areas and all over the world and is known as the patron of Impossible cases.
In Sanse, he is most commonly known to us as Polizon Fronte, although he can be worked with under different puntos. As Polizon Fronte, he is the head of the police and those that in the mortal life work for justice. He is a powerful protector and helps those who work with him to achieve all sorts of goals. We also work with Polizon to help people attain employment or get a job quickly.
Polizon is also known for his quick help when it comes to court cases. He can assist those defendants that are innocent of any wrongdoing. He can also assist those who are in lawsuits or prosecuting another to gain favor and win their cases. He is a powerful force that is often called upon to assist one’s legal team to lead to success.
Polizon may work in various divisions, though very commonly one will find him working with the Division of Belcanes with his compadre, Belie Belcan.
In Las 21 Divisiones, he can also be seen as Polizon, although he may also work through his other path known as Tabu. Tabu assists people in love issues and also in cases dealing with the courts. We use the Tabu essence when working with him. Tabu is a Misterio of the Petro division.
In both Las 21 Divisiones and Sanse, and I have even seen in Haiti, some people work with St. Jude as Gran Bwa. This is understandable. And in this punto, St. Jude gives powerful protections to people seeking protection from enemies. St. Jude is also able to help with fertility and issues dealing with male sexuality or sexual disorders.
In my lineage of Sanse, we also work with St. Jude under a punto which comes from the Ogounes. And in that case, St. Jude is a particular and special Ogoun that we work with when it comes to difficult court battles, situations with enemies, and situations in which the help of a powerful warrior is needed.
St. Jude can also be called upon in various other puntos, but I do not want to add to much and confuse you.
His colors are green, brown, red and white. Though the main color we work with for him is Green. People usually burn a green 7 day candle when asking for his intercession.
Many people pray the Novena to St. Jude when undergoing a difficulty. I will be posting his novena for all of you soon.
Here are a collection of different prayers to St. Martin of Porres also known as Gede Kafou or Gede de Las Calles.
Prayer to Saint Martin de Porres:
To you Saint Martin de Porres we prayerfully lift up our hearts filled with serene confidence and devotion. Mindful of your unbounded and helpful charity to all levels of society and also of your meekness and humility of heart, we offer our petitions to you. Pour out upon our families the precious gifts of your solicitous and generous intercession; show to the people of every race and every color the paths of unity and of justice; implore from our Father in heaven the coming of his kingdom, so that through mutual benevolence in God men may increase the fruits of grace and merit the rewards of eternal life. Amen.
THIS IS A NOVENA TO ST. MARTIN OF PORRES, A NOVENA IS A PRAYER DONE OVER A NINE DAY PERIOD.
Novena to St. Martin de Porres
Most humble, St. Martin de Porres
Whose burning charity embraced not only the needy brethren,
but also the very animals in the field.
Splendid example of charity, we hail thee and invoke thee,
from the high throne which you now occupy.
Deign to listen to the supplications of your brethren,
that by imitating your virtues,
we may live contented in that state in which God has placed us,
and carrying with strength and courage our cross,
we may follow the footsteps of our Blessed Redeemer
and His Most Afflicted Mother,
that, at last,we may reach the kingdom of Heaven,
through the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ.
THIS PRAYER IS A SPECIAL INVOCATION FOR HEALING FOR ST. MARTIN. WHEN THIS PRAYER IS SAID, A BLESSED RELIC IS APPLIED TO THE BODY OF THE PATIENT OF THE PRAYER.
“In the name of the Most Holy Trinity,
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
In the name of Mary, Queen of Heaven,
In the name of Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church,
Saint Martin, cure (help) me (him, her)
For the honour and glory of God
And the salvation of souls.”
ANOTHER PRAYER OF ST. MARTIN:
Most humble Martin de Porres, whose burning charity embraced not only thy needy brethren, but also the very animals of the field, splendid example of charity, we hail and invoke thee! From that high throne which thou dost occupy, deign to listen to the supplications of thy needy brethren that, by imitating thy virtues, we may live contented in that state in which God has placed us, and, carrying our cross with strength and courage, we may follow in the footsteps of Our Blessed Redeemer and His most afflicted Mother, to reach at last the Kingdom of Heaven through the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today is the feast of all the Gede Spirits. The Gede Lwa and Misterios are very important because they represent Death and all it’s different components. Since we all, as humans, have to meet death sooner or later, we all have a varying degree of a connection with the Gedes to some extent or another. The Black Division is a huge family, and in this article, I will be covering some of the lesser known family members of this beautiful Division.
Please realize that different lineages and people do use different Saints to represent the different Misterios. It does not make one superior to another, simply different. Below is the way as I was taught and practice within my lineage.
On this all Souls day, we celebrate all the Misterios of the Black Division. In Sanse and Las 21 Divisiones, The Black Division is the division of the Cemetery and is led by San Elias or Baron Del Cementerio. Along with his wife, La Barona or La Baronesa, he rules over the Cemetery.
His first son, Gede Limbo Lakwa is his right hand and assists Baron in many of his works. Gede Limbo Lakwa is represented by St. Expedite. St. Martha or Filomena Lubana, is known by some as his daughter and by others as his concubine.
St. Alex, or San Alejo in Spanish, is known as Baron De La Cruz. He assists us in removing crosses or curses from individuals, to help remove bothersome individuals, and also to open up gates to new opportunities. Baron de La Cruz is also well known for his ability to remove negative energy from within a Home.
Guedecito, or Our Child of Atocha, is the child of the Cemetary. He comes in the form of a small boy and is known for his mischief making. But he is also a well recognized and highly followed Saint. He assists with attaining money, success and luck. He is also petitioned to help a business. He is well known for his ability to heal the sick and help the poor. He is the special protector of children. In some areas, they use this Saint to represent a different Misterio.
Another well known Misterio within the Black Division is Prin Gede. Prin Gede is known for protecting expectant mothers, assisting them during labor and to have a safe and easy delivery. He is also petitioned when difficulties arise due to gossip and there is a need to stop gossip. He is known for his quick ability to stop those who are telling lies. Prin Gede is seen in the image of St. Raymond or San Ramon. He also assist those who have been falsely accused.
Gede Kafou, or Gede de Las Calles, is represented by St. Martin de Porres. He works with a broom and a candle to remove negativity and negative energy wherever he goes. He is known for his ability to remove negativity from us and our environments. He is also petitioned when we have people around us who we would like to be set free from. He is known for his special ability to make sure that those who are devoted to him are never left hungry. Gede Kafou or Gede De Las Calles can also be called upon when one is expierencing many financial difficulties, debts and poverty.
Gede Kafou is a healer as well. And hospitals are a special place for him. He is also known for his special love of animals. His feast day is November 3rd and he also has a special connection with St. Rose of Lima. He is also known to be able to assist those having marital difficulty resolve their problems and focus on their love rather than their problems.
Stay tuned for more of the Misterios of the Black Division . . . . .
SPIRITUAL DREAMING AND DREAM DEVELOPMENT
Dreams are a gateway into the Spiritual World and allow us to receive guidance and communications from the Spirits and Entities on the other side. Dreams can also help us to grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and morally to become different people. Dreams have a deep impact on our minds and can be used to create change, but also as a gateway into the Spiritual Realms.
Dreaming is one of the many Spiritual Faculties or Abilities that one may possess. I am sure that many of you have already heard, known or maybe even expierenced cases in which a dream was a premonition to some event that was to occur, or predicted something significant for the individual who had the dream, and sometimes others.
Many know the practice of getting winning lotto numbers from a dream. This is something that is practiced and held true within many different cultures throughout the world. This is another case in which dreams are messages, trips or revelations from the Spiritual world.
There is also the ability to spiritually travel (astral travel) within one’s dreams to find out significant information, reveal the future, understand some past event, or to do some other work on the other side, or in the Spiritual World. This is another spiritual ability or faculty that can be developed by developing one’s spiritual gifts.
God, the Ancestors, the Dead, the Spiritual Guides, Misterios and Saints have all been known at one time or another to communicate to people via dreams. In fact, it is one of the most important and significant ways in which they relay messages to us. Sometimes these dreams are very direct and easy to comprehend. At other times, these dreams can difficult to understand and may need some interpretation.
The first thing to build up yourself and your spiritual dreaming ability is to recognize it’s importance in the first place. Secondly is to attain a dream journal. You must write down all your dreams as soon as you wake up in the morning. This is important, because it will reinforce the first thing, and secondly it will give you an important record that you can refer back to at any time and point.
Physically writing it is also important, as it will allow the significance to sink into you. When you first awaken in the morning, do not speak to anyone. Do not get out of bed. Have your dream journal next to your bed, with a pen, before going to bed. Immediately write down your dream. This is very important. Then you can write the date at the bottom.
You can start using your dream journal right away, even before following all of the other steps below. Because the faster you begin using it, the better your ability to remember your dreams and remember them clearly will become.
Thirdly, it is very important to get proper rest. You will not be able to dream properly, if you do not sleep properly. This is because your body needs to recuperate itself fully before it can dedicate other energy into dreaming. So make sure that you are getting the proper amount of sleep that you need.
Fourthly, it is very very important that you keep yourself and the room where you sleep spiritually clean. Keeping the environment with a High Current, or Vibration, will make it easier for the Spirits to communicate with you. Spiritually cleansing the room by sprinkling Florida water around the room, and incensing the room out with frankincense before bed is good way to do this.
Fifth, it important thing is that you don’t sleep with the tv/radio or other electrical devices on. This does not allow the mind to properly rest and get the deep sleep that you need in order for your body to repair itself optimally. Also the information from the tv/radio may seep into your dreams and cause confusion in the dream.
Once you have done all the above, you have everything set into place for success.
When it comes to dreaming, it is important to recognize that not all dreams will be spiritually significant. Some dreams are just the mind clearing itself out of all the negativity, garbage and other unnecessary information our brains are carrying. A spiritually significant dream is often very vivid. The dream seems real.
So real in fact, that sometimes you may wake up and question whether or not it really happened. Also a spiritually significant dream may directly let you know, in one way or another, that it is a message from the spiritual world.
Also, there will be times when the meaning is very direct and clear. Yet, there will also be times where it will need to be interpreted, and the meaning or message is not clear. Sometimes symbols will be used and you must interpret the symbolism given during the dream. It is important to understand that many times symbolism in a dream is very personal. It is best to understand the dream by thinking of what the different symbols mean to you.
Sometimes it will be a while before you understand the message behind the dream. If it is very confusing, I suggest using the technique with Santa Clara given below. However, you may also want to forget about it for a few days to a week and return to it later. This should be done first, because often times given a little time, the meaning of the dream will come to us. Or another dream will come to clarify the first one.
There are many techniques and practices that we use to clarify and enhance dreaming.
First and one of the most popular is to petition St. Claire, or Santa Clara, for clarity. this is done with a glass of water, an egg white and a white candle. It is also good to have an image of St. Claire and her prayer. The glass should be clear and free of any markings, indentations or designs.
The first thing is to have all of your materials together. Light your white candle and say the Prayer to St. Claire. (Her Prayer is at the bottom of this post for you) Make your petition asking for clarity. As you make your petition, put the white of one egg into the glass of water. Continue to ask St. Claire to give you clarity in your dreams and to help you understand your dreams better.
Let the candle burn out then go to bed. The glass with the egg white should be near your bed, like on a night stand. You can dispose of in three days by tossing this outside.
Another technique to increase the quantity and quality of your dreams that is popular is to take a glass of water and put a square of camphor in it. Then place this under your bed, where the head lies. This should be replaced once a week. Also lighting a candle and speaking to St. Claire while preparing this is a very good idea.
Giving one self a series of Spiritual Cleansing baths will also help enhance dreaming and is recommended to do regularly anyway. It is always good to keep oneself spiritually clean. A simple spiritual cleansing bath is often enough to enhance one’s ability to dream.
My aunt used to always say to me–
“You will find out, there are very few “spiritual” people who are actually spiritual” . . . .
And unfortunately it is all too true. I didn’t like it, and I don’t like it, but it is very true. As we always say, many are called but few are chosen.
Nowadays, I see it going on more and more. Although from time to time, I do see things that give me glimmers of hope for some. It is when Spiritual people bash each other. It is one of the very few things that I find disturbing and upsets me.
As Spiritual People, I believe, that we are already in a minority, and as such we should not be bashing each other especially over silly things such as jealousy, greed, envy, etc. But it happens very often. Personally, I think that no minority should ever bash another minority. I don’t believe that people should speak ill of anyone at all, but especially in the above case.
Because by being a minority yourself, you should already know what it feels like to be discriminated against, therefore you should know better than to do it unto others. You should consider yourselves one with all others, especially those who are undergoing similar circumstances to your own. Doing unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Very often the source of the negative talk however lies simply with jealousy. Whether that jealousy be over attention, clients, number of clients, godchildren or whatever.
And if there is some truth to some negative speak about someone, as a Spiritual individual you should not spread it. And you should have the strength of character to ask and confront the individual directly. As my grandmother always said . . . Communicating is how people learn to understand each other . . . .
There are other situations in which negative talk goes on . . . .
Such as with traditions and Religions. Some Spiritual people tend to think they are above another or better than another. However if such a person was actually spiritual they would realize that there are many paths to the Divine, and no one path is superior than another, just a different way to get to the same place.
Some people have the misconception that one religion or tradition is more powerful or stronger than another. This is also untrue. The fact is a person will reach their true potential and spiritual potential when they are on the proper path with the proper teacher.
Some “spiritual” people believe that true knowledge, understanding and information should only be given to individuals of a specific background or culture. This is a very common one unfortunately and I see it all too often. This actually speaks volumes about that person as an individual more than anything else. A truly Spiritual person knows that this not only not true, but is also a technique/tactic used by non advanced Spiritualists to hold others behind.
Some “spiritual” people knowingly do things that are wrong spiritually to others, sometimes for no real rhyme or reason. This is just plain vulgar, offensive and disrespectful.
Some “spiritual” people initiate or give attunements to others with no intention for the person to ever be self sufficient. This is wrong, they create a dependancy and use this to their advantage.
Really . . . . I could go on and on but I think you get the idea . . . .
Before pointing the finger at someone else, always look at yourself first and make sure that you are right with everything that you are doing in your life . . ..
SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS AND OBSERVANCES BY PAPA HECTOR
ON WHY YOUR LIFE IS NOT WHERE YOU WANT IT TO BE!
Lwa, Saints, Spirits, Misterios and Even God are here to guide and direct you. . . not control you. You either take their advice/direction or you don’t . . . . but as a result of your actions are the consequences. They are not here to live your life for you or to make everything a bed of roses all the time, they are here to help you, guide you, direct you but not control all aspects of your life. That is why God gave you free will.
So many people think that when the Spirits speak, and they tell you what to do, one can pick and choose what to do. They want to pick the parts that they like, or are convenient, comfortable and easy, and not do the parts that they find hard, difficult, require work or effort. If that is the case, then you cannot blame the Spirit for the effects of your choices. For you are the cause of those effects.
You are in the driver’s seat in your life. It is you who controls what you are going to do and when . . . .it is you who makes the decisions. So stop blaming others when things go wrong, when things don’t go your way or don’t work out . . . you set the stage and the tone for what happens, it is no one’s fault but your own.
If you don’t want to change your life, no amount of spiritual work can change it for you. If you don’t want to improve yourself, no spirit can force you to do so. In life, you are dealt a set of cards (like in poker) some you can change out, others you can’t and you just have to deal with them and learn to work with them. Everything is not resolvable or can be made to how you want it, some things just are. Learning to accept this and work with it, is a sign of true spiritual growth . . . .
Many are quick to blame the Houngan/Mambo/Priest when they don’t get what they want or are not living life on cloud 9, but at the end of the day, the Priest can only help you, in the end, as I stated before . . . you are the one who makes the decisions and choices in your life, you are the driver. The Priest can only work with what you give him. If you give him lemons, he makes you lemonade . . . if you give him a limo, he gives you a limo service. . . .
Also. . . . . Priests, Houngans, Mambos, Awos, etc . . . they have lives of their own to lead and their own path to follow, also need to continue on their path of growth and evolution. That means that they cannot be there for you all the time, some things you must deal with on your own, they are not there to be used, abused, harassed and hounded with your issues, as if they have nothing else to do . . . if you really love your priest, you will give him/her time to have his/her own life. Especially since 95% of his/her time is dedicated to helping others. Giving him 5% to himself is the least you can do.
I believe all Spiritual People and people going on to be on the spiritual path should really read the Gospel According to Spiritism. . . . it will give you a firm foundation of Spiritual things, a great understanding and will help you when you go to seek spiritual help and clue you into the reality of what can be done and what cannot.

Hope this Spiritual Knowledge has helped you in some way,
St. Claire of Assisi is a powerful Saint and can often be found being honored in many homes, temples, private and public Altars. St. Claire helps us to bring more clarity into our lives and get a better sense of direction as to what we should be doing. St. Claire is a powerful Ally of a very high and pure order.
St. Claire is a generous and wise Spirit. She freely seeks to help those who are ailing, especially those who are having difficulties and cannot seem to find a solution. With her monstrance, she guides and directs the Divine Light of God and shines it on our Spiritual paths so that we may awaken our consciousnesses and live to our fullest potential. That light also gives us the knowledge and awareness of what our path is and where it is taking us.
St. Claire also assists people in understanding their pains, trials, tribulations and sufferings. Helping people to learn from them, to accept what cannot be changed and learn how to change what can be changed. She helps to give strength to those who are suffering so that they may bear their suffering with the utmost dignity.
So today, on the Feast Day of St. Claire, remember her and honor her whichever way you best know how.
