Ogou Balendyo: Chief of the Ogous
Ogou Balendyo is the Chief or Leader of the Division Nago, also referred to as the Division of Ogounes, Guerreros.
In Sanse and Las 21 Divisiones, Ogou Balendyo is responsible for having given us the Traditions, Rules and the structure of proper service of the Mysteries.   He works with Candelo, who as a disciplinarian makes sure the rules are followed.  He battles for honor, respect and Tradition.
As a well known healer, Balendyo is able to perform miracles which could no longer be handled by modern sciences and medicines.
Growing up I watched El Viejo Ogou Balendyo heal a tumor through  Dona Ramira, a friend of my Godmother Nancy and Spiritual Worker.
It was a lump of hard mass on the woman’s stomach, she almost looked pregnant.  The lady had been undergoing treatments but they couldn’t get rid of it all.  Apparently there was some cells that they couldn’t reach without causing other damage.  Because of this, it kept growing back.
Ogou Balendyo rubbed her belly with a dark Orange grease.  The woman’s stomach became as shiny as a bowling ball.  He pressed and massaged, pushed and prodded her stomach.
Then he began blowing heaps of rum and some herbal mixture over her stomach as he continued to massage her stomach.   He told one of the assistants to go and brew some type of tea, and to make it “extra hot “
He then began drawing on her body with all types of powders and tracing symbols on her with a piece of burnt wood.  She was given the tea to drink.  He then began to rub her with a light yellow grease that had herbs mixed into it.  This rubbing removed all of the symbols he had drawn.
He left some instructions for the woman to carry out and left shortly thereafter.
We were to administer a special healing bath before sending the lady off.  While giving her the bath, I noticed how her stomach already appeared to be reduced.
I didn’t see her again until about a year later.  No longer sick, the tumor gone, and looking radiant.  I learned that within the year, she had also received her first refresco and became dedicated to the beautiful Mysteries of Las 21 Divisiones.  Gracias a la Misericordia.
Ogou Balendyo is known for helping the downtrodden and the fallen.  He gives them a hand and lifts them up.  He Is very approachable so long as you come forward with respect.
Happy Feast Ogou Balendyo!
Luck
Papa Hector
